The 7th sale of the 2026/27 wool selling season was held this week, with an offering of 8 009 bales.
The majority of the offering consisted of long length, fine micron wools, with 62,9% of the merino wools on offer being sustainably certified.
The market showed resilience today and erased some of the losses from last week, with some additional support from the weaker ZAR against all the major currencies.
An overall sales clearance of 93,9% was achieved.
The all-merino indicator increased by 2,6% to close on R252,50 p /kg, with the certified indicator gaining 2,9% to close on R258,30 p/kg.
A highest price of R365,45 p/kg (clean) (R289,00 p/kg greasy) was paid for a 6-bale lot of 16,2-micron merino wool.
The Australian market retracted slightly this week and closed down by 0,16% (AU$) from their last sale held on Wednesday, 30 September.
The major buyers on the sale were Fibreflow Trading (1 370), Tianyu SA (1 319), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 314) and Stucken & Co (1 209).
The next sale will take place on 14 October 2026, where approximately 5 489 bales will be on offer.
