published 19 Mar 2026

The 2025/26 wool selling season continued today, with the 25th sale of the season taking place.

The offering of 6 897 bales mainly consisted of long length, fine micron wools and sustainably certified wools comprised 48,3% of the merino wools offered. An overall sales clearance of 96% was achieved.

The market could not maintain its upward trend and followed the downward trend in the Australian market, despite the weakening of the Rand against the USD.

A highest price of R313,13 p/kg (clean)(R201,00 p/kg greasy) was paid for a single bale lot of 15,8 micron merino wool.

The Australian market retracted by 1,9% (AU$) this week, compared to their previous sale held on Thursday, 12 March.

The major buyers on today’s sale were G Modiano SA (1 733), Standard Wool SA (1 118), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 013) and Tianyu SA (955).

The next sale will be held on 25 March 2026, when approximately 6 078 bales will be on offer.
