Wool Sales Catalogue 29

The 29th sale of the 2024/2025 wool season took place this week, with a smaller offering of 6 627 bales, after 1 474 bales were withdrawn prior to the sale, with an overall sales clearance of 92,8%.

The offering mainly consisted of fine micron wools, with 47% of the merino wools on offer being sustainably certified.

Amidst a continuing uncertain global trading environment and a stronger Rand of 1,72% against the US$, the market continued to experience pressure today. 

The all-merino indicator closed down by 1,2% on R179,41 p/kg and the certified indicator eased by 2% to close on R182,80 p/kg.

The Australian market decreased by 1,6%(AUS$) compared to the previous sale held on Thursday 1 May.

A highest price of R259,58 p/kg (clean) was paid for a 2-bale lot of 15,3 micron merino wool.

The major buyers on today’s sale were Standard Wool SA (1 682), G Modiano SA (1 317), Tianyu SA (1 165) and BKB Pinnacle Fibres (752).

The next sale will take place on 14 May 2025 where approximately 13 577 bales will be on offer.
